The Play-Doc International Film Festival, which will celebrate its 21st edition from May 7–11 in the city of Tui, Spain, has announced the films selected for its International Competition, along with the jury that will award the prizes.
As is tradition at Play-Doc, the selection features filmmakers committed to formal risk and constant experimentation. This year’s International Competition will include new works by Camilo Restrepo, Marta Mateus, Julen Etxebarria, Jean-Claude Rousseau, Ben Rivers, and the directing duos formed by Margaux Dauby and Raúl Domingues, and Pierre Creton and Vincent Barré. The selected titles are:
- Sincero, apaixonado, by Margaux Dauby and Raúl Domingues (Belgium/Portugal, 2025)
- El tercer paisaje, by Julen Etxebarria (Spain, 2024)
- La Chambre d’ombres, by Camilo Restrepo (France, 2024)
- Fogo do vento, by Marta Mateus (Portugal/Switzerland/France, 2024)
- Flamenco, by Jean-Claude Rousseau (France, 2024)
- Bogancloch, by Ben Rivers (UK/Germany/Iceland, 2024)
- 7 promenades avec Mark Brown, by Pierre Creton and Vincent Barré (France, 2024)
The distinguished jury will consist of Franco-Austrian distributor and producer Pierre-Emmanuel Finzi, American filmmaker C.W. Winter (The Works and Days, The Anchorage), and French festival strategist Pascale Ramonda.
The Galician Competition and the rest of the program —including special screenings, events, and parallel activities— will be announced soon. Previously, Play-Doc revealed retrospectives and special programs dedicated to Elaine May, Monte Hellman, Michael Roemer, and a selection of restored classics from Indian cinema, presented by the Film Heritage Foundation.
