In 1431, during the final day of her trial for heresy, Joan of Arc faces a hostile ecclesiastical court. Accused of wearing men’s clothing and of hearing divine voices, the young peasant defends her faith with unshakeable conviction until the moment of her execution at the stake. Shot on minimalist sets and with a radical use of the close-up, the film reconstructs the trial based on the original court records.
