1. General
Play-Doc is an independent film festival held in the Galician city of Tui, on the border between Spain and Portugal. Each year, Play-Doc presents a selection of competitive and non-competitive programs, as well as retrospectives of internationally renowned filmmakers and cult and independent directors whose work has remained lost, forgotten, or largely unknown.
The festival aims to foster dialogue around fiction and non-fiction cinema, presenting and rediscovering classics from film history while showcasing a carefully curated selection of contemporary cinema from around the world, with a special focus on Galician cinema, to a large, diverse, and engaged audience.
2. Dates
The 23rd edition of Play-Doc, Tui International Film Festival, will take place from April 28 to May 2, 2027.
3. Eligibility
Submissions are open to films of any length and subject matter. Priority will be given to films having their Spanish premiere at Play-Doc.
4. Competition and Awards
All films selected for the competitive programs will be eligible for a cash award and a trophy, granted by an internationally renowned jury.
5. Entry Fee
An entry fee of €10 is required for all submitted films. Payment must be made exclusively through the online submission form.
6. Selection
All submitted films will be considered for both competitive and non-competitive sections. The festival’s artistic direction will be responsible for the selection. The scheduling of selected films —dates, venues, and screening times— will be determined by the festival.
7. Notifications
The festival will contact only the representatives of selected films; therefore, films that have not been selected will not receive a notification. The full program will be announced prior to the festival through Play-Doc’s website and social media channels, as well as through press announcements.
8. Deadline
The call for entries will remain open until March 15, 2027.
9. Acceptance
Submission and participation in the festival imply acceptance of these regulations. In any cases not covered by these regulations, the festival management will make the final decision.
