Galician audiovisual: moving toward the future or is the future already here?
A meeting space that combines a round table and an open dialogue with the audience, designed to collectively reflect on the present of Galician cinema from the perspective of its creators. Based on their experiences, the main challenges facing the sector and its future prospects will be discussed in a participatory conversation that encourages direct dialogue between professionals and attendees.
Participants include Irene Pin, Zeltia Outeiriño, Xacio Baño, Fran Rodríguez and Coral Piñeiro, moderated by Pablo Fontenla, president of CREA.
Activity organized in collaboration with CREA, the Galician Association of Film and Television Directors, founded in 2002 with the aim of defending the interests of directors and filmmakers in the Galician audiovisual sector.
Pablo Fontenla
Director of photography, screenwriter and filmmaker with extensive experience in the audiovisual sector. He has worked on documentaries, feature films, short films, web series and content for television and platforms. Founder of Luou City Producciones, he develops audiovisual creation, scriptwriting and music composition projects. His work has been recognized several times at the Mestre Mateo Awards in different categories.
Irene Pin
Screenwriter and director trained in Audiovisual Communication, she specialized in screenwriting and directing during her time in Greece, where she co-directed the documentary Morrer Devagar. She is the creator of Amnesia 3.0, the first interactive web series in Galician, and directed the short film Somos Cárcere. She is currently developing her first feature film, Terás que saltar. She combines audiovisual work with writing, including projects such as the transmedia poetry collection A ollada de Ειρήνη and cultural journalism.
Zeltia Outeiriño
Filmmaker and audiovisual creator trained in Audiovisual Communication, she has developed her career between Galicia and Barcelona. After starting as a camera operator, she specialized as a freelance filmmaker in projects related to the social economy and collaboration with vulnerable communities. Her documentary work, focused on human rights and social awareness, has been screened at various festivals. She is the author of the documentary feature Filmei paxaros voando, winner of a Mestre Mateo Award.
Xacio Baño
Director, screenwriter and producer. His work, mainly focused on short films, is characterized by the exploration of cinematic language and the search for a personal voice through distinctive formal and narrative approaches. His films have been selected at numerous international festivals such as Locarno, Viennale, Clermont-Ferrand, Telluride and San Sebastián. His latest film, Despois das cidades, premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
Coral Piñeiro
Filmmaker and audiovisual creator trained in Audiovisual Communication and specialized in motion graphics. Her documentary short films Dores and Na pel da memoria have been recognized at various festivals. She is co-founder of the association Memoria e Cinema, focused on promoting history through audiovisual media, and is currently developing the documentary feature Da túa man para miña.
Fran Rodríguez Casal
Visual artist and filmmaker whose work moves between cinema and visual arts. He has participated in festivals, artistic residencies and group exhibitions in different venues, developing a creative approach focused on experimentation and the relationship with territory and memory. He is currently working on the film adaptation of the project Da túa man para a miña, in collaboration with the production company Miramemira.
