Round table: the challenges of independent film criticism
On the occasion of the closure of A Cuarta Parede, the first digital film criticism magazine in Galician, we are organizing a round table as part of the festival. This will be a space to examine the reasons behind its shutdown, discuss the future of its archive, and collectively reflect on the current state of independent film criticism in Spain and Portugal.
In addition to some of the magazine’s founding members and former editors, the session will include representatives from key publications such as Caimán. Cuadernos de Cine and À pala de Walsh, who will share their main challenges and management models, as well as their perspectives on the evolution of the field in an increasingly precarious and shifting landscape.
This will be the first in a series of events accompanying the farewell to A Cuarta Parede, which will unfold over the coming months.
